The Terroir

The natural and climatic conditions of the Sandanski region are one of the best for winemaking in Bulgaria. This is the warmest and sunniest part of Bulgaria. The climate is a combination of continental and Mediterranean. This has a particularly large impact on the annual rainfall distribution and temperature regime. The number of sunny days is more than 224 days a year, the average annual temperature is about 13.9 ° C. The vineyards are located on hilly terrain with southern exposure. The breeze that descends from the surrounding Pirin, Belasitsa and Ali Botush mountains naturally ventilates the vineyards, which does not allow moisture retention. The soil is characterized by sandy soils that drain easily and do not retain water, as well as limestone and natural volcanic deposits.
